MACEDON. Acanthus. Ca. 470-430 BC. AR tetradrachm (29mm, 16.06 gm). NGC Choice XF 4/5 - 4/5. Lion with long curved tail springing right, attacking bull kneeling to left with raised head, and biting into his hind quarters; Θ above, stylized acanthus flower below dotted exergual line / Quadripartite incuse square, the interior compartments roughly granulated. SNG ANS 10. Desnaux 53. Bright devices contrasted by toned surfaces.
