France
Republic "Paris Commune" 5 Francs 1871-A MS63 PCGS, Paris mint, KM823, Gad-744, F-334. Trident privy mark. Mintage: 75,000. A key French issue of the latter 19th century, minted for a short period from March 18th through May 28th during the insurrection in Paris that feared the temporary government would return France to a monarchy. Thoroughly choice in appearance, a strikingly glass-like luminescence is immediately visible across the surfaces, with an expert attention to detail and few surface marks confirming its covetable status.
Ex. John J. Pittman Collection (David Akers August 1999, Lot 4162)
