Republic platinum Proof Piefort "Victor Hugo" 10 Francs 1985 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC, Paris mint, KM-P958, GEM-191.P4. Struck upon the centenary of Victor Hugo's death. An essentially flawless representative of this issue which saw only 15 pieces struck. Although Gadoury contends that the mintage for the issue was 9, the COA included with this lot confirms the mintage stated in the Standard Catalog of World Coins. We note that the last example we handled brought $4800 in August. Sold with NGC-verified Monnaies de Paris COA No. 0004.
