Weimar Republic gold Proof Medallic "Hindenburg" 5 Mark 1927-D PR64 Cameo NGC, Munich mint, KM-X1a, Schlumberger-14, Kienast-386. By Karl Goetz. Most impressive, this medallic type was struck to commemorate the 80th birthday of German politician Paul von Hindenburg, who served as the second President of Germany from 1925 to 1934. Bordering on elite quality for the type, with the presence of light wisps in the reflective mirrors and a few tiny contact marks over the satin-textured bust, all of which are rather commonplace for the issue.
