Great Britain
George I Crown 1716 AU58 NGC, KM545.1, S-3639, ESC-1540. SECVNDO edge. With plumes and roses in angles. Uncharacteristically fine for this classically challenging monarch's crowns, struck with a definitive depth of the detail to the strike that is often lacking for the shallow engraving of George's coinage. Very nearly Mint State, the surfaces are positively aglow with a bloom of cobalt and magenta iridescence while more golden elements reside in the peripheries. Seldom found finer, and a true prize piece for its future owner.
