Alexander II gold 3 Roubles 1879 CПБ-HФ AU Details (Cleaning) PCGS, St. Petersburg mint, KM-Y26, Fr-164 (Rare), Bit-42 (R2), Uzd-0276. Obv. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with orb and scepter. Rev. Date and value in beaded circle. Although the listed mintage is 5 in most major publications, and also in the 1890 report of the Mint Director, we feel the actual mintage to be a bit higher. Nonetheless, the issue is undeniably extremely rare and always desirable. The present piece offers a slightly more attainable opportunity for the collector, in that it bears evidence of a prior cleaning.
