Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1721 S-J AU Details (Mount Removed) NGC, Seville mint, KM315, Cal-185, Onza-517. A rarely seen offering, here with a mount removed and struck from late-state dies. Very faint traces of adjustments are noted, but generally blend well into the residual luster. The flan seems ever-so-slightly out-of-round, but the edge milling is complete and does not appear to have been disturbed by the mount. All in all, a perfectly suitable representative of this scarcity for the type collector.
