Brabant. Philip IV of Spain gold 2 Souverain d'Or 1647 AU55 NGC, Antwerp mint, Hand mm, KM74.1, Delm-169 (R), Vanhoudt-637AN (R2). 11.05gm. Variety with flat collar. Apparently the rarest, and final, date for this mint according to Vanhoudt, and one which appears very attractively preserved for its age, a darkened tone picking out the features and creating a pleasing visual contrast again the honey-gold surfaces. A significant double-strike can be observed in the obverse legends, though this in no way encumbers their legibility.
