ABBASID: al-Mahdi, 775-785, AR dirham (2.77g), al-Yamama, AH167, A-215.1, with triplet of pellets above and the town name hajar below the reverse field, cleaned, VF, R. The mint of al-Yamama was the only location in what is now Saudi Arabia that was active during the first 70 years of the Abbasid period, only AH165-170. After AH200, a few extremely rare dirhams and dinars were struck at Makka.
