TIMURID: Sultan Husayn, 3rd reign, 1469-1506, LOT of 70 silver tankas countermarked by Sultan Husayn, some of his first type (A-2437), most with his second time (A-2438, with mint name), including the mints of Herat, Marw, Tun, Astarabad, Balkh, Sabzawar, Nishapur, and Nimruz, on host coins most of Shahrukh, but also a few hosts of Abu Sa 'id, Sultan 'Ali, Sultan Mahmud, and Sultan Ahmad, and a few Aq Qoyunlu hosts of Hasan and Ya 'qub; many with additional countermarks, applied either before or after the marks of Sultan Husayn; total weight 349.4g (= 11.23 ounces); a fascinating study group for this incredibly complex period of late Timurid coinage; retail value about $1000; lot of 70 pieces.
