Victoria (1837-1901), Threepence, 1848, type A1, young head left, rev. crowned value in wreath, 1.39g, 6h (Spink 3914; ESC 3375 [-] [R4]), a hint of iridescent peripheral tone overlying lustrous mint surfaces, virtually as struck, and a key date for series only issued as the Royal Maundy or for circulation in the colonies, very rare thus, in NGC 'Francis' holder, graded MS66+ (Cert. #5878644-010)
