Issued in August, 1948 by the city of Tel Aviv to be used for tax collections, since there was a shortage of small change in the early days of Israel's independence. Notes valued at over 26,000 Pounds were released; when they were withdrawn from circulation about a year later, 14% went unredeemed. Scarce. Pleasing EF examples, with light fold in center of each.
