Israel. Tel-Aviv Waad (City) Set of Notes, 1948. Set of two notes (50 and 100 mils. Issued in August, 1948 by the city of Tel Aviv to be used for tax collections, since there was a shortage of small change in the early days of Israel's independence. Notes valued at over 26,000 Pounds were released; when they were withdrawn from circulation about a year later, 14% went unredeemed. Scarce. Pleasing EF examples, with light fold in center of each.
