[Leonard Charles] Wyon, when aged only 16, diademed head of Victoria left, modelled after William Wyon's medal for the Queen's visit to the Guildhall, London, rev. legend and date (in small letters) in 5 lines, S. ERA IN COELUM REDEAS / DIUQUE LAETA INTERSIS / POPULO / MAII XXIV / MDCCCXLIII, 48.5mm. (BHM.2088, R2; Attwood, Hard at Work, 2014, p.58 illus.), minor porosity spots, very fine and exceedingly rare
The young Leonard Charles Wyon produced several medals in his teenage years, all of which are illustrated by Attwood. We are pleased to be able to correct the details in the reverse legend as printed in BHM, S. ERA for ERA and LAETA for EATA.
