EUBOIA. Histiaia. Circa 3rd-2nd centuries B.C. AR tetrobol. 2.16 gm. 14 mm. Head of the nymph Histiaia right, hair rolled and bound with a wreath of ivy leaves and berries, wearing a drop earring and pearl necklace / Nymph seated to right on stern of galley, holding stylis and resting her right hand on the deck; six-rayed star on the side of the stern, trident to right below; ΙΣ[ΤΙ - Α]ΙΕΩΝ. Cf. BCD Euboia 412-413. HGC 4, 1525. BMC 123. SNG Copenhagen 530. Extremely Fine; light attractive tone; lovely style, well centered and sharply struck on a broad flan. An unusually choice example of this extensive issue.
