PROVINCIALE MUNTEN - Presentation Dukaton of zilveren rijder 1728, Silver, West–Friesland Type Ia. Gladde rand.Scho. 40a; Delm. 1064; Dav. 419; KM. 130.1.The only date struck in the mint of Hoorn, with subsequent years (1737-1741) all originating from Enkhuizen. With the exception of the year 1741 that was also struck in Medemblik. Scholten mentions that the dies of this year were of a finer workmanship than the year 1737. Not indicated as such, but given that it was the only Rider struck in Hoorn and the marked time between the next, this year can be thought of as a presentation issue. This is further reinforced by the prooflike field which is unique to VOC riders.RR. Zeer zeldzaam. Despite some cabinet friction on the higher parts which removed the toning, this example possesses a deep gray-gold-green toning shifting to an attractive iridescence and prooflike fields. Enkel op de hogere delen lichte sporen van kabinet-frictie waarbij de patina deels is verwijderd. Veelkleurige patina. NGC AU55 Vrijwel FDC
