L. Philippus. AR Denarius, 113 or 11 BC. Obv. Head of Philip of Macedon right, wearing royal Macedonian helmet; under chin, Φ; behind, ROMA monogram. Rev. Equestrian statue right, base inscribed L. PHILIPPVS; below horse, flower; in exergue, X. Cr. 293/1. B. (Marcia) 12. AR. 3.88 g. 18.50 mm. Sound metal. A superb portrait, sharply struck and perfectly centred. Lovely cabinet tone, with a hint of iridescence. Good VF.
