Antoninus Pius (138-161). AE Sestertius, 156-157 AD. Obv. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP IMP II. Laureate bust right, with drapery on far shoulder. Rev. TR POT XX COS IIII SC. Securitas seated left, left elbow on cornucopiae, holding sceptre. RIC III 967; C. 1008. AE. 22.65 g. 32.00 mm. A superb example, with a masterly engraved portrait. Dark green patina, gently smoothed. Slightly rough surfaces, otherwise about EF.
