ДЕСПОТЬ ('Despot' in Serbian) Ox-horned helmet and large shield decorated with one-headed eagle with raised wings. Rev. [IC] - XC Nimbate figure of Christ standing facing in mandorla, holding book of Gospel. Jovanovic, 41-23. Nicely toned. Struck from a worn obverse die, otherwise, very fine.


The ox-horned helmet was the coat of arms of the Lazarevic Hrebljanovic family.
