SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Seleukos I Nikator, 312-281 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 13 mm, 2.00 g, 6 h), Attic standard. Aï Khanoum, circa 286/5-284. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. [B]AΣIΛE[ΩΣ - ΣEΛEΥKOΥ] Athena, brandishing spear overhead in her right hand and holding shield in her left, standing right in quadriga of elephants moving to right; above, Seleukid anchor. SC 278. A beautifully toned and unusually attractive example with a bold head of Zeus. A few light marks and the reverse a bit weak, otherwise, good very fine.
