BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Philoxenos, circa 125-110 BC. Tetradrachm (Subaeratus, 26 mm, 8.68 g, 11 h), Indian standard. A contemporary plated imitation. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ANIKHTOΥ / [ΦIΛOΞENOY] Draped bust of Philoxenos to right, wearing crested Boiotan helmet adorned with bull's horn and ear. Rev. 'Maharajasa apadihatasa Philasinasa' (in Karoshti) Philoxenos on horseback to right; to lower right, monogram. Bopearachchi 5C. HGC 12, 268. An attractive contemporary plated imitation with a bold portrait. Minor breaks in plating, otherwise, good very fine.
