INDIA, Post-Mauryan (Malwa). Ujjain. AE (Bronze, 13x14 mm, 3.46 g). Goddess Lakshmi standing facing, flanked by six-armed symbol and tree-in-railing; below, river with fish. Rev. Four-orbed Ujjain symbol with taurines in angles. Cf. Pieper 294 (for similar type). Very fine.

This unusual depiction of Lakshmi, where she stands facing and stretches her left hand out towards the Bodhi Tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment, was not recorded by Pieper.
