GERMANY. Rhenish Confederation. 1/2 Taler, 1809-B. Regensburg mint. Karl Theodor von Dalberg. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield.
KM-5. An elegant overall example of this minor, offering very little in the way of wear and retaining some minty brilliance as one approaches the peripheries.

Karl Theodor von Dalberg was Prince-Archbishop of Regensburg, Arch-Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, Bishop of Constance and Worms, Prince-Primate of the Confederation of the Rhine, and Grand Duke of Frankfurt. He attempted to preserve his own status and the integrity of Germany by toadying to Napoleon, for which he was rewarded by being made head of Napoleon's puppet Confederation of the Rhine.

Estimate: $200.00- $300.00
