S. Dockler the younger, 1730. Draped figure of Religio kneeling to right, handing a copy of the Augsburg Confession (marked A.C) to the Emperor Charles V, seated left on throne; on the base of the wall to right, D (= Dockler); in the exergue, KAIS.CARL.DEM V / A MDXXX. Rev. ICH REDE / VON DEINEN / ZEVGNISSEN / VOR KOENIGEN // A.C / ZWEITES GE / DÆCHTNVS / MDCCXXX in eight lines within an ornamental border. Whiting 410. Attractive and well-struck. Minor discolorations - cleaned since its previous auction appearances, otherwise, about extremely fine.
