KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 16 mm, 8.56 g, 3 h), Pella, c. 340/36-328. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Charioteer, driving chariot drawn by two horses rearing to right, and holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right; below horses, trident to right. Le Rider Period II.1. Scattered surface abrasions, otherwise, very fine.
From the Trausnitz Collection, ex Jacquier FPL 8, Spring 1988, 76.
Le Rider distinguishes several trident issues from both Pella and Amphipolis. We could not find the dies used to strike this coin in Le Rider's corpus, but based on the coin's style it seems to belong to his second period at Pella.
