KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33.5 mm, 16.55 g, 1 h), struck posthumously, Mesembria, circa 125-100. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛΕΩΣ AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left; to inner left, helmet above ΔΑ; below throne, BY. Callataÿ Group 3, D27/R- (unlisted reverse die). HGC 3, 1569. Karayotov I 250-1 var. (O72/R247 unattested die combination). Price 1072. Toned. Obverse slightly doubled and some die-breaks on the reverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
