PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Darios I to Xerxes II, circa 485-420 BC. Siglos (Silver, 15 mm, 5.54 g, 6 h), Lydo-Milesian standard, Sardes. Persian king, wearing radiate tiara, in running/kneeling stance to right, holding bow in his left hand, spear in his right and with a quiver over his shoulder. Rev. Oblong incuse. BMC Arabia pl. XXV, 17. Carradice Type IIIb A/B, pl. XII, 17. Iridescent toning around the devices. Banker's mark on reverse, otherwise, very fine.
