Caracalla AR Denarius. Rome, AD 210-213. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG BRIT, laureate head to right / MONETA AVG, Moneta standing facing, head to left, holding scales and cornucopiae. RIC IV 224; BMCRE 90; RSC 165. 1.86g, 20mm, 1h.
Extremely Fine; edge chipped.
It is ironic that this particular coin, having as it does a reverse type depicting Moneta weighing coins in a pair of scales, should be so underweight, especially as this cataloguer cannot find evidence of the piece being a fourrée.
