Severina (wife of Aurelian) BI Denarius. Rome, AD 275. SEVERINA AVG, diademed and draped bust to right / VENVS FELIX, Venus standing facing, head to left, holding unidentified object (perfume box, apple?) and sceptre; ϛ in exergue. RIC V.1 6; MER-RIC 1862 (temp.). 2.89g, 20mm, 7h.

Billon Denarii such as these would not have been intended for circulation, but rather minted as presentational issues - cheaper as being mostly made of bronze, silvered to appear more expensive, and used in situations such as imperial processions, wherein the Emperor would hand out large quantities of such coins as largesse.
