20th Century Copy by Orphanides(?), after Constantine Christodoulos: Corinthia, Corinth AR Stater. Circa 480-400 BC. Pegasos flying to right, Ϙ below, within shallow circular incuse / Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet, within incuse square. For prototype, cf. Ravel 222; cf. Pegasi 75/1; cf. BCD Corinth 22. 8.06g, 20mm, 10h. Extremely Fine. An interesting piece possibly by the mysterious Orphanides, an extremely talented forger active from the 1930s through 1960s.
