Denunciation of the Mint Director of Bordeaux
Rauzet, J.D. LHOSTE CITÉ, POUR SES LIBELLES, AU TRIBUNAL DE L'IMPARTIALITÉ. Bordeaux: Puynesge, n.d. [1796?]. 8vo, self-covered, stitched within later plain card covers. 8 pages. Very good. An exceptionally rare printed denunciation of Laurent-Bruno Lhoste, the Director of the Bordeaux mint, by one Rauzet, accusing Lhoste of involvement in the theft of a substantial amount of money from the mint in September 1793. The document includes detailed tables outlining Lhoste's debts and obligations, which are calculated to suggest a strong similarity between the amount owed and the amount stolen. Rauzet was, in turn, accused of slander and defamation by Lhoste.
