Britain Triumphs over Napoleon
Mudie, James. AN HISTORICAL AND CRITICAL ACCOUNT OF A GRAND SERIES OF NATIONAL MEDALS. EMBELLISHED WITH OUTLINES OF THE ENTIRE SERIES. London: Henry Colburn, and Co., Conduit Street, 1820. 4to, modern tan half calf with marbled sides; spine lettered in gilt. xix, (1), 151, (1) pages; 10 engraved plates of medals. Near fine. Apparently issued to promote and/or accompany Mudie's well-known series of medals issued to commemorate British victories over the Napoleonic forces of France. According to Forrer (Volume IV, pages 186–187), the medals "cost the publisher, in addition to six years' devotion of his time and trouble, upwards of £10.000." Modesti states that only 24 of the planned series of 40 medals were actually produced. Very scarce. Leitzmann 94. Modesti 1574.
