The 1869 Dassy Sale, Priced & Named
Rollin & Feuardent. CATALOGUE DE MONNAIES ROYALES, SEIGNEURIALES DE FRANCE, MONNAIES ROMAINES, ETRANGÈRES, &C., FORMANT LA COLLECTION DE FEU M. DASSY DE MEAUX. Paris, 3 mai 1869 et jours suivants. 8vo, contemporary green half morocco with mottled sides; spine with five raised bands, lettered in gilt; marbled endpapers; silk marker; top page edges gilt. viii, 213 (1) pages; 2099 lots; 3 lithographic plates engraved by Dardel. Binding a bit rubbed and scuffed, but still attractive. Very good or better. A very scarce sale catalogue, particularly with the names of buyers recorded. Ex Guillaume Conbrouse Library, with his monogram stamped on the flyleaf verso. Our consignor notes in pencil below the monogram that "This is Guillaume Conbrouse's monogram; no doubt the catalogue was hand-priced & named by him at the sale." While correct about the monogram, the neatness of the annotations strongly suggests that it was priced and named by a scribe following the sale. Clain-Stefanelli 6389. Grierson 291. Engel & Serrure 1917.
