Early Volumes of World Coin News
Krause Publications. WORLD COIN NEWS. Iola, 1974–1979. Nine bound volumes, comprising the following: Volume 1, complete; Volume 2, January through June only; Volume 3, complete; Volume 4, July through December only; Volume 5, complete; and Volume 6, complete. Folio [43 by 28.5 cm], later matching blue cloth, gilt. Generally 800–900 pages per bound volume. The first volume includes the December 1973 Pilot Issue. Generally fine, with only occasional wear to individual issues. World Coin News was a vital lifeline to the small but devoted community of world coin collectors in the 1970s. Originally published as a quarterly, then as a monthly. then as a biweekly, and finally as a weekly, these early volumes are very rare encountered, and for them to have been bound is especially fortuitous given the tabloid paper's proclivity to age poorly. These are remarkably well preserved and make for much interesting reading.
