Margolis Correspondence: Raoul Kraft
Margolis, Richard. CORRESPONDENCE WITH RAOUL KRAFT. One bound volume (4to, blue cloth, gilt) into which has been bound original correspondence received from Kraft, 1955–1981, as well as copies of Margolis's side of the correspondence, supplemented by photocopies, carbon copies, and photographs, some of it annotated by Margolis in pencil. Approximately 109 leaves, plus a few inserts. Generally fine. One of the most important volumes of Margolis correspondence, comprising a written record of a rewarding numismatic friendship. A shared interest in the numismatics of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic era brought the two men together, and they remained friends until Mr. Kraft's death. Richard Margolis's handwritten note at the beginning of this volume reads: "Correspondence between Raoul Kraft of Geneva (& later of Rolle) and Richard Margolis, primarily on the numismatics of the French Revolution (& including a letter from Mr. Kraft to Erich Cahn of Münzen und Medaillen, to whom he sold the bulk of his collection." Of considerable interest to the specialist.
