Dusty, but still near fine. According to the front cover, this was a "Discours de réception à l'Académie Impériale des Sciences, Belles-Lettres et Arts de Rouen, Lu en séance particulière, le 4 Juillet 1856." Ernest Dumas was the author of a later work, Notes sur la fabrication des monnaies d'or et d'argent en Angleterre, a rare study of English coin minting techniques. The mintmaster at Rouen, he wrote a few different works on coinage, all of which appear to be rare. Unlisted in Engel & Serrure.
