Catalogue of Medallic Works
Eschger, Ghesquière & Cie. FLANS & PIÈCES DE MONNAIES D'ARGENT DE NICKEL DE CUIVRE & DE BRONZE. Paris, n.d. (c. 1890?). 8vo, contemporary brown cloth-backed mottled boards; spine ruled and lettered in gilt; marbled endpapers. Title page with the firm given as Eschger, Ghesquière & Cie.; lithographic title designed by L. Van Péteghem giving the firm as Oeschger, Mesdach et Cie.; 51 lithographic plates. Loosely inserted is an unsigned description in French, accompanied by a small photograph of a proposed 5 cent piece to be issued for the Societé l'Esperance, Roubaix. Near fine. A rare publication issued by Eschger, Ghesquière & Cie. (formerly Oeschger, Mesdach & Cie.), a Paris medallic arts firm that boasted factories in France and Belgium. The plates illustrate an impressive array of coins, medals and tokens produced by the firm. Forrer cites this catalogue in his entry for Louis Mesdach.
