MS63 | [Top Pop] | George II (1727-1760), Crown, 1751 VICESIMO QVARTO, rev. eight strings to harp, angles plain, edge lettered downwards, 6h (ESC 1693 [128]; Spink 3690; Pywell-Phillips 315), an evidently earlier journey of the obverse die before the letter forms softened and encountered with this scarce date type, otherwise a simply sublime specimen with gentle but attractive cabinet tone overlying cartwheel lustrous fields, conceivably amongst the finest extant irrespective of the well-deserved but ultimately modest third party grade, in the cataloguer's humbly considered opinion unmissable for any serious Crown collecting connoisseur, in PCGS holder, graded MS63 [Joint Finest as PCGS and NGC] (Cert. 80712867).
Estimate: £3,000 - £4,000
