Victoria, Sovereign, 1856, WW incuse on truncation without stops, second larger young head left, date below, doubled with curvy 6 with bulbous top, last word of legend doubled, rev crowned quartered shield of arms within laurel wreath, emblems below, legend slightly doubled, 7.97g (Marsh 39; MCE 517; S 3852D). Scratch across mouth, cleaned with surface marks, good fine.

The calendar year mintage is nearly halved from the previous year but still on the high side, however there are not as many varieties as one would expect when comparing with previous similar mintage years within the scope of the Bentley Collection.
