Unfortunately the obverse legend is obscured confounding our reading of the mint name for a moneyer 'Siggelino' that occurs in different spellings at various locations. None of these present parallels can be linked stylistically or typologically, nor can the letters flanking the cross (L-I), usually indicative of a mint or region, be attributed with certainty. However, both Williams and Allen have tentatively linked this to an emission of Burdigalis (Bordeaux), and transcribe the moneyer's name as 'Seggelinus'.
Estimate: £1500 - £1000
