Anglo-Saxon England, Post-Crondall Types (c. 655-675), Pale Gold Shilling, 'Crispus' type, CBISPUS | DOB CHES, helmeted, cuirassed and draped Romanised bust right, with elaborate hair, rev. +DELAIONA [in runic] | CESIAN + retrograde, annulet cross with cross pattée either side, in double beaded circle, 1.28g, 0° (SCBI 69, 8 this coin; Abramson, 2012a, Fig 10; A&W xxvi.; Gannon, pp. 52-3, 5, no. 212, pp. 58, 159, 172, 180, 184 no. 17, and Figs. 2.42a, 5.4; North 18; Spink 764 plate coin), struck with a rusty obverse die, otherwise extremely fine or very near so, with a beautiful golden hue, extremely rare with only eight recorded on EMC despite it being one of the most recognisable issues of the 'Dark Ages'.
