Anglo-Saxon England, Secondary Series (710-760), Sceat, Series QIB, variety 1, two figures facing, square shoulders, wearing long tunics tied at waist, feet turned to centre, long cross pommée between and at either side, trefoil above, rev. linear monster in flight left, looking back, gaping jaws, raised tail, feathered chest, clawed foot below, bent foreleg raised above head, pellets in field, 1.12g, 180° (SL 63-30 plate coin; SCBI 69, 612 this coin; T&S pp. 488-92, 382-5; Gannon 28-9, 39, 53, 65, 87, 101, no. 159, 148-50, 175, 191-2, and Figs. 2.7b, 2.44; MEC 8 Series Qb; North 133; Spink 808 plate coin), some residual deposits, otherwise well-centred, toned, almost extremely fine, very rare.
