Anglo-Saxon England, Secondary Series (710-760), Sceat, Series O, type 40 or Q related, standing figure, bulbous head right, triangular body enclosing trefoil, feet right, no arms, cross pommée left, globus cruciger right, rev. Hirsute monster fleeing right, pellet eye, trefoil tail, pellet below, 1.04g, 90° ( SL 107-20 plate coin; Abramson, 2012b, Fig 21b; SCBI 69, 811 this coin; T&S pp. 477-81, 378-81; Gannon 137, 148-50, and Figs. 3.17, 4.43, 4.60; Spink 807B), well-centred with bright surfaces and of good fabric, a hint of verdigris, otherwise nearly extremely fine and extremely rare, a most wonderful Saxon coin.
