Louis XV gold Louis d'Or Mirliton 1723-G UNC Details (Saltwater Damage) NGC, Poitiers mint, KM-Unl., Gad-338 (unpriced). Short palms variety. A superb example of this saltwater issue. The strike is bold, with only slight water damage and some luster remaining. Attractive and an extremely rare issue. Likely from the 1725 Le Chameau shipwreck, though we have no documentation for this with the coin. Sold with old collector envelope detailing provenance.
