PHOENICIA, Sidon, time of Baalshallim I-Ba'ana (c.425-402 B.C.), (6.98 g), silver half shekel, obv. Phoenician galley to left before the city walls of Sidon with its four towers, in exergue two lions leaping away from each other, rev. the King of Persia standing to right, holding dagger in his right hand which he is about to slay a lion, whose mane he grasps with his left hand, all within an incuse square, (S.-, Betylon 9, BMC 9-10, EE&E-S group III, 2, HGC 10, 227 [R3]). Very fine, weak in places, extremely rare.
