John Albert Taylor, sugar boiler, age 30, born at Bundaberg, Qld; Enl.07Oct1916 at Bundaberg, Qld in 6Rfts 41Bn; Emb.23Dec1916; admitted to Parkhouse Military Hospital in England with mumps 15Apr1917; to France 02Jul1917; TOS 41Bn 18Jul1917; KIA Belgium 05Oct1917 at Broodseinde Ridge in the third battle of Ypres; Buried at Ypres (leper), Arrondissement leper, West Flanders (West-Vlaanderen), Belgium; commemorated at the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

Mother, Mrs Margaret Ann Taylor, who was registered as John's next of kin, died in 1919 so his war medals were sent to his father in June 1921. John Albert Taylor was the oldest of nine children. His younger brother, Robert Paul Taylor, applied to join the AIF but was declared medically unfit. One of his other younger brothers, William James Taylor, also joined 41Bn and was at Broodseinde Ridge but survived.
