HUNTER POCKET WATCH, mid 1800s, Swiss made by Edouard Bovet for Chinese market, in silver, key wind with key included, white dial with black Roman numerals and antique gold hands, subsidiary seconds dial with black Arabic numerals and black indicator hand, the dial is marked with gold Chinese text (Bo Wei) above a black number 15998, machine turned case with central shield within a garter on the lid, on the inside of the cover lid is stamped with a rampant bear symbol above Chinese text, in the centre is a Chinese incense burner with Chinese text and with Chinese text hallmarks at left and right, below is 0.900 above the number 4 above 15998, on the inside of the back cover and also of the separate works cover are the identical markings as on the inside of the lid but without the central Chinese incense burner, the works also impressed with same Chinese text as on the incense burner (all Chinese text on the inside of both lids and on the works is for Bo Wei, the name created by Bovet for its Chinese line of watches). Not working, spring appears to be broken, very small dent on lid, otherwise very fine.
