HALF HUNTER POCKET WATCH, mid 1800s, Swiss made for Chinese market, in silver and with a white dial profusely decorated with peacocks, Chinese buildings and unpicked cherries, marked for 'Exclusif/Shanghai', small clock dial in centre with Roman numerals, black hands and seconds hand, small window at base with indicator to show watch is working, back cover hallmarked for London, date uncertain, also stamped with Chinese characters for Bo Wei inside a lotus flower (the symbol and name created by Bovet for its Chinese line of watches), the works are gold coloured and with a clear glass cover, push-button on suspender holder at top for opening back cover, also impressed on holder is an illegible hallmark, key wind operation with key included, this is marked on one side, 'Alex./Ross/& Co' and on the other side with Chinese characters meaning, 'Luo Tu Yang Hang'. In working order, some small dents on back cover, otherwise very fine.
