(t) CHINA. Gold Dollar Pattern, Year 12 (1923). Tientsin Mint. PCGS Genuine--Graffiti, Unc Details Gold Shield.
Fr-Unlisted; L&M-1096a; K-1575; Wenchao-pg. 83 #45 (rarity four stars); WS-0070. Small Characters variety. Another iconic Chinese issue of the 20th century, this nicely preserved example offers a sharp strike from finely engraved dies with lustrous, satiny surfaces. There are light signs of handling in the form of a few stray abrasions and light wispy lines, while the reverse exhibits light scratches around the central designs, ultimately accounting for the details designation. Despite its shortcomings, a presentable example of this seldom encountered type sure to see spirited bidding from many collectors.

Often this issue is incorrectly referred to as the "Pu Yi wedding" dollar. It is, in fact, a pattern for the proposed design displaying the new national emblem.

From the Pinnacle Collection.

Estimate: $30000.00- $50000.00
