SINGAPORE. Copper Trial Strike Keping, ND. Soho mint, Birmingham. Fighting Cock series. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, EF Details Gold Shield.
Prid-70 (plate coin); SS-89 (plate coin). This highly interesting trial issue exhibits the familiar fighting cock motif, but the reverse is a series of beaded borders, one central with two outer. The strike is fairly bold, but does show a bit of flatness on the reverse in the outer border and a hit mark that can be seen from the obverse. The fields in front of the cock exhibits light tasteful smoothing from long ago now toned over matching the rest of the coin. This attractive survivor exhibits even wear on both sides displaying light brown coloration on the high points complemented by rich chocolate brown patina in the fields offering a pleasing appearance. Despite its shortcomings this seldom encountered trial issue is quite handsome destined for an advanced collection.
