(t) CHINA. Qing Dynasty. Fujian. 20 Cash, ND (ca. 1853-55). Fuzhou Mint. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). Certified "82" by Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company.
Hartill-22.794; FD-2520. Weight: 33.0 gms. "Xian Feng zhong bao"; Reverse: "Er shi"; Rim: "Yi liang ji zhong". This pleasing survivor offers much originality and lots of character, displaying moderate signs of handling with much natural roughness in the fields remaining. Both sides of the rims show several chopmarks as is commonly encountered on these issues, but hardly a distraction. The rich brown patina and minor earthen deposits amongst the devices gives this piece a pleasing appearance sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.
